Kangaroo Island Children's Services was first known as the Kingscote Pre-school play centre which commenced in 1964 with an enrolment of about 20 children per term. Since that early beginning the service has seen many changes, relocations, new buildings, extensions and expansion to now encompass Pre-school, Long day care and Vacation/Out of school hours care at different sites across the island.
With funding from the Commonwealth Government, State Government and local community the Kangaroo Island Children's Services Inc is now a community based integrated service, managed by a Governing Council of parents.
