Established in 1951, we are a friendly community-based kindergarten in the Melbourne suburb of Kew. We offer three-year-old and four-year-old programs delivered by enthusiastic tertiary qualified teachers that are partially funded by the State Government.
Our philosophy
We offer an Emergent Curriculum; in other words, our curriculum evolves based on what is socially relevant, intellectually engaging and personally meaningful to children. Children have the opportunity to learn and develop through hands-on, meaningful experiences.
In particular, we:
- allow needs and interests of members of the group to provide the focus for learning
- foster the children’s natural curiosity
- recognise the significance of self-esteem and confidence in children’s learning.
We give the children in our kinder opportunities to:
- increase in self-confidence by active participation in their group
- develop language skills which enhance their ability to express feelings, negotiate and form relationships
- learn to express themselves through art, music and movement
- flourish as their concentration and independence grow in our nurturing environment.
