St James Primary School Yamba is an Early Stage 1 to Year 6 coeducational Catholic Primary School. Our school's motto is Every Day is a Journey. We assist families to nurture a strong faith life and Christian values in their children. We see that we are on a life long journey of learning in our personal and spiritual lives. Religious Education is taught to all classes and prayer life is strong. Our shared faith is central to all we do and there is a close relationship with the parish.
Our school has embraced sustainability and environmental education by providing Kids Grow gardening principles. This encourages students to engage in purposeful gardening, which supports active learning and development of lifelong skills. It involves students in co-operative, real life endeavours.
The school enjoys an excellent reputation in the local community and we take a keen interest in supporting community cultural and sporting events. We offer a fantastic summer sports program which includes surfing. The school accesses opportunities to be involved in inter-school, regional, diocesan, state and national representative sporting activities.
