We are a medium sized school with a student population of approximately 400 students that offers ‘small school’ personalised approach for students in Preschool to Year 6. Wanguri Primary School is situated in the heart of Darwin’s Northern and primarily supports students who live in the suburbs of Wanguri, Tiwi, Lyons and Muirhead. We are a dynamic school that has continuously improved and transformed our facilities and learning programs to reflect the exciting and challenging local and national educational agendas.
I am delighted to share my enthusiasm for our fantastic school with you. Wanguri has a strong emphasis on student wellbeing, builds student leadership and promotes a culture of creative problem-solving. Restorative practice underpins our work with students and each other and is based on building and maintaining strong relationships and repairing harm if it has occurred. The school’s values have been determined by seeking the views of students, staff and parents. They align with the Nine Values for Australian Schooling and some if the Australian Curriculum general capabilities—critical and creative thinking, personal and social capability, and ethical behaviour.
