The school provides a planned and comprehensive approach to continuously improving student learning outcomes. Students take responsibility for their learning. They are encouraged to progress in their learning by taking risks within supportive student-teacher relationships.

Relationships between home and school are actively supported and developed so that parents know what children have learnt and what they will be learning next. Westmead has an exciting Creative and Practical Arts Program that includes dance, choir, art, band and dance.

The school participates in PSSA and sport at school each Friday. The expansion of the school site has meant that the school is now enjoying six new classrooms, Before and After School Care facilities, a new library, a 130 seat lecture theatre, a dance studio and two computer rooms.
