The NCEA was established in 1994 and specialises in engineering research in agriculture and related environmental areas relevant to improving the profitability, environmental sustainability and socio-economic wellbeing of our rural industries, their natural resource base, as well as the manufacturing and service sectors which support them. The NCEA promotes this research via relevant extension and training programs and most importantly through commercial interaction with industry.
The NCEA continues to provide leadership in research, training and commercialisation in the diverse field of engineering for agriculture. Program areas cover irrigation and natural resource management, and agricultural and biosystems engineering. Funding was sourced from more than 12 agencies. A strength of the NCEA’s programs is the diverse agricultural industries across which we work.
