English Language Centre (ELC), University of New England (UNE) was established in 1991 to provide English language training for overseas students of non-English speaking backgrounds. It is fully accredited by TEQSA and has received a Quality Assurance endorsement by NEAS through a voluntary audit of its operations. It operates on a fee for service basis and is a member of English Australia (EA) and United English Campuses Australia (UECA).
A range of courses are offered throughout the year, including General English, English for Academic Purposes and unique, tailored study tour programs which include English language, homestay and cultural / Academic activities and events. Core programs range from 5 to 40 + weeks in duration and are designed to meet the individual learning needs of each student with study and special tours from 2 to 10 weeks.
The ELC is located on the campus of UNE in Armidale, New South Wales, a picturesque and cosmopolitan town in which to live and study, and for this reason, each year students choose to come to ELC to experience the unique advantages of high academic standards and excellent sporting facilities in a tranquil and supportive study environment. The centre is smaller than many metropolitan language centres, which allows for a more personal teaching approach. The Director and English Language Teachers have specialist qualifications and experience in teaching English to international students.
