Situated in the Hills District, north west of Parramatta, Samuel Gilbert Public School is readily accessed from Castle Hill. As with all Public Schools there is a defined area that students must reside within to be eligible for enrolment.

Located in a bushland setting with buildings designed to take full advantage of the natural environment. There are 14 permanent classrooms surrounding terraced courtyard areas and 8 demountables. The library is a feature of the school, as is the parent built computer room called "Burragali" and Science room called "Elouera" The hall and canteen are well used.
