Bowen is located in East Orange in a residential area. The school has a proud record of participation and achievement in creative and performing arts with instrumental and percussion bands, choir, verse speaking and dance groups. Student Welfare practices are varied and innovative to provide a happy and safe learning environment and aid in the development of citizens who are responsible and tolerant of others. Programs to enhance children's self esteem and acknowledge student achievement are paramount. The successful integration of students with disabilities throughout all years has seen the implementation of diverse learning initiatives. Twenty five per cent of the school population identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students.
