The Centre of Excellence for Behaviour Support (The Centre) is part of the Queensland Government’s response to the recommendations of the 2006 report Challenging Behaviours and Disability: A Targeted Response, and has been funded as part of the Government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of adults with intellectual or cognitive disability and challenging behaviour, and to reduce the use of restrictive practices in the lives of these individuals.
The Centre is a partnership between the Department of Communities and The University of Queensland, focussed on undertaking world leading research, policy development and training aimed at improving services for adults.
The Vision for the Centre of Excellence for Behaviour Support is to position Queensland as a world class leader in research, policy and practice in positive behaviour support.
