Camooweal State School, first established in 1893, is located approximately 190 km north-west of Mount Isa and 13 km east of the Northern Territory border.
Our school has two multiage classes, with our enrolment currently averaging between 40 and 45 students from Prep to Year 7. 95% of our students are Indigenous. Our school community population fluctuates due to a high degree of transience between Camooweal and neighbouring communities both in Queensland and in the Northern Territory.
Our staff includes a principal, two teachers, a part-time administration officer, 3 full-time equivalent teacher aides, and a cleaner/schools officer.
At Camooweal State School, our motto is to "Strive to Succeed". To achieve this aim, we are committed to our PRIDE values:
P - Passion for learning
R - Respect
I - Individuality
D - Discipline
E - Excellence
