Yarwun State School was established in 1906 and is situated twenty kilometres northwest of Gladstone. Our school prides itself by having country values with city opportunities. Yarwun State School currently has 53 students. We have a Prep to Year 2, Year 3-4 and Year 5 to 7 composite classes; and visiting specialist librarian, music, LOTE and PE teachers. Playgroup and a Platypus Club(for children who will be attending Prep the following year) operates once per week. Our successful curriculum program focuses on English, Mathematics, Science and Technology with other KLAs integrated into units. All students have access to computers. Interactive whiteboards are in each classroom. We have a whole school choir, recorder, violin and guitar bands. Our choir and folk group participate in the Gladstone Eisteddfod annually. Science and technology are integral to our learning and we run a Robotics Program. We grow our own vegetables and fruit and we have an adopted scientist. Our focus is to continually update and improve pedagogy, and to know and understand each child in order to develop optimal techniques to challenge them, in a caring and supportive classroom. We map, record and report every student's progress against outcome statements relating to what a student should know.
