The Bankstown Hospital School was established in 1966 on the former site of Bankstown Hospital which is now the carpark of the existing hospital. The school is 1 of 10 hospital schools in NSW provided by the NSW Department of Education and Training. We are a K-12 school and have our own school room located in the Paediatric Ward, 2F, of Bankstown Hospital.
Children from both Public and Private schools, who are patients in the Paediatric Ward, utilise the school and its facilities each year. Parents and siblings are welcome to participate with the students in their activities.
Long term students are assisted with their work from their Home School and we endeavour to maintain a close relationship with their Home School teachers throughout their stay in hospital. Short term students are offered assistance with their subjects and given suggestions for further study and research.
School staff work as part of a multidisciplinary team along with medical and allied hospital staff to offer continuity in education and total wellbeing of the child.
