Holy Name Primary is a Catholic primary school catering to children from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Forster Tuncurry Parish.
Holy Name primary school was opened in 1961 as a result of the combined efforts of Father Bernascone and Father Linehan, the Sisters of St. Joseph and members of the Parish Community. The first principal of the school was Sister Mary Francesca.
Since that time the school has grown from an initial population of 35 to its present enrolment.
The school was founded on the strength of the Catholic Community's belief in the value of Catholic education and the vital role the Catholic school plays in the mission of the Church. This link between school and parish remains as strong today.
The complimentary relationship between school and parish is highlighted by the philosophical link that exists between the schools' motto of "Concern for Others" and the concept of "Unity in Christ" which is presented in the parish logo.
