Mutitjulu School is located 450km southwest of Alice Springs in the community of Mutitjulu within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The population is approximately 350; the traditional owners are the Yankunyjatjara people and the languages spoken include Pitjantjatjara, Luritja and Yankunyjatjara. The community can be accessed all year round via road. Mutitjulu can also be accessed via air through regular passenger services to Yulara, 25km away.
Mutitjulu School is part of the Lasseter Group School and provides education services to students from early years to middle years for local students and a growing number of itinerant students who visit regularly from the communities Docker River, Ernabella, Areyonga and Imanpa. For students, English is a second or third language. The school is a feeder school for the local independent Nganyatjatjara College and also links in with nearby Yulara School. The community is very traditional and funds its own preschool.
