Maningrida School is located in the community of Maningrida, 550km east of Darwin. The population is approximately 2700, however can fluctuate depending on the season and ceremonial activity. There are seven main languages spoken in the area; the dominant languages are Ndjebbana, Burrara, Nakara, Kunwin’ku, Gurrgoni and Rembarrnga and Jinang. English is spoken to various degrees of proficiency but not by all residents. The Kunibidji are the traditional owners on the land where Maningrida is located. Road access via 4WD is only possible in the dry season. Maningrida can also be accessed via regular passenger air transport services and has an all weather airstrip.
