Camira State School was established in 1975 and services Camira, a suburb of Ipswich which is a provincial city on the western side of Brisbane. Camira is situated approximately 9 km east of Ipswich City Centre.
Students are drawn from approximately 15 suburbs. Currently, 643 students are enrolled in Years Prep to Seven. The school services a culturally diverse community that comprises 8% Indigenous Students and students from 23 other cultural backgrounds.
Our students bring a diverse range of cultural and language experiences to the school setting. To cater for this diversity, our teaching focus in Prep and the early years is on development of oral language, early literacy and numeracy skills to form a strong foundation upon which all learning is built.
