The Brisbane Youth Education & Training Centre is a unique school which resides inside the grounds of the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol and is part of Qld Dept.of_Communities. The Centre is a purpose built, state-of-the-art facility, which commenced operations in February 2001.
Our school is extremely well resourced and reflects the Government's vision of supporting and promoting the well-being and capacity of young people in detention. Modern, well-equipped new buildings provide extensive opportunities for our community of young people.
Our staff are passionate about helping young "at risk" students many of whom have had disrupted experiences of schooling. We seek to educate the whole person - provide opportunities for growth, development and learning which will prepare young people for a balanced worth-while future!
Diverse pathways are provided for each student. An increasing number of vocational Education and Training studies combined with a core focus on Literacy and Numeracy skills help broaden our students' choices.
