We are recycling storm water to create a natural watercourse running through a small parcel of indigenous bushland. The creek leads to a peat filled reed bed and a frog pond where we plan to breed local endangered frogs. Our natural ecosystem will attract native fauna to the area making it a site for community study and relaxation.
The project will include rainwater storage to maintain the watercourse over the summer, natural plants to filter water, and other filter systems along the watercourse.
Children at this campus undertake real work in the grounds in a range of activities linked to sustainable agriculture. Already underway are a Kitchen Garden, an eel pond, a peace garden, orchards, flower and perfumed gardens. The project will include systems for composting, mulching, a wormery, raising chickens and recycling.
