St Joseph’s Primary School, Chelsea, is a coeducational Catholic Primary School in the bayside suburb of Chelsea about one hour south of Melbourne. The school was established in 1924. In 1935 Sister’s of St Joseph took over the running of the school travelling by train each day from the Frankston Parish. The Josephite order left the school in 1986.
St Joseph’s Chelsea is on a very small but well presented site. The school comprises four main buildings. These are Administration block, Junior Classrooms, Senior Classrooms and a Hall. Within the buildings, there are two toilet blocks, a computer laboratory, a Library and various small office/withdrawal areas. Outside there are well placed pockets of play equipment and a large area of asphalt. Across the road from the school a grassed play area has recently been established.
