We are an inner bayside school, established in 1916, with most of our students drawn from nearby areas with the school recently introducing a neighbourhood boundary. The school is in a quiet, residential area close to other facilities such as public transport, beaches and shopping villages.
The school population reflects the characteristics of the Elwood community with its diversity of socio–economic and cultural backgrounds. The mix of professional, creative and performing artists, often with very flexible work arrangements, supports and enhances the school’s learning and teaching programs.
We believe that our curriculum should enable students to be competent in literacy and numeracy as well as lead our students to be creative, critical thinkers, problem solvers and through this to have a love of learning.
The development of their self worth and confidence through a focus on our values of resilience, respect, empathy, integrity and responsibility are vital.
Our school places great importance on our students being globally aware, understanding the environment we live in and diversity.
We strive to make our school one where students are involved in the arts, sport and can develop the lifelong skills to make friends and be happy.
