Kinglake West Primary School has been serving its semi-rural community since 1896. It is situated in a bushland community set high on the Great Dividing Range about 65 kilometres north of Melbourne. In early July 2009 we moved into moden newly constructed buildings designed to be environmentally sustainable.
At present our enrolment is approximately 120 children. This is expected to remain fairly stable over the next three years. While most children live in various parts of Kinglake West and Pheasant Creek, significant number are drawn from surrounding districts including Kinglake, Middle Kinglake, Flowerdale and Dixon’s Creek.
The children’s behaviour, sense of responsibility and friendship are positive features of Kinglake West Primary School. Great emphasis is placed on caring for our students, staff and parents.
The school currently employs six full time classroom teachers during the year. We also employ an integration aide, art and craft teacher, PE teacher, full time office manager and three intervention teachers.
While emphasis is placed on developing effective skills and a high level of achievement in literacy and numeracy, the comprehensive curriculum provides high quality programs covering all Learning Areas. There is a commitment to an integrated curriculum approach and inquiry learning and the implementation of innovative programs.
