Yinnar South Primary School is situated approximately 160 kilometres east of Melbourne in central Gippsland in the picturesque foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges, 8 kilometres from Yinnar and 12 kilometres from Churchill. The school has been proudly serving the changing needs of the local community since 1886. There are 11 students enrolled and attending the school. The school has an excellent range of facilities and buildings including the original school building , 2 classroom spaces, a library, artcraft area and a (community) hall. Each student has an individual computer to work from. The school is located on a treed 2 hectare block which includes native gardens, a colorful playground and a sealed court area. Classrooms are well served by up-to-date ICT structure and hardware. The students enjoy activities such as School Camps, excursions, annual School Concert , monthly Healthy Lunch Program, annual Inter-school Athletic Sports, and the older students all have leadership roles. Since the beginning of 2010, the staffing of the school has decreased to 1.6 teachers and 3 integration aides. The school is once again on the pathway to being able to consistently produce a standard of excellence for all students.
