Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE is the largest provider of vocational education and training in North Queensland. Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE caters to individuals, industry, enterprises and the general community and aims to be the Institute most known for excellence in helping people, Industries and communities achieve their potential through learning, no matter where they live. It boasts an array of heritage buildings which are complimented by additional modern offices and classrooms and set in prize winning tropical palm and lawn gardens. The campus is ideally positioned close to the central business district and has a long history as a place of education and training in Townsville. Most of the courses offered at City campus are from 'Business, Tourism and the Arts' and 'Access, Community and Indigenous Studies'. The state of the art fashion facilities are also home to the delivery of the Soft Furnishing, Upholstery and Interior Decoration courses offered by Technology Studies, whose courses are largely based at Pimlico campus. The Institute is also expanding into today’s global environment, offering a variety of mediums to deliver education and training programs including online delivery, video conferencing and distance education. The use of these mediums enables Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE to reach students throughout Australia and the international market place.
